We are at the beginning of a fundamental societal shift: Strength training is becoming one of the central health factors of our time – and in the future it will be as natural as daily hygiene or balanced nutrition. Deeply rooted in everyday life, in healthcare systems, and in the way we think.
At Sparkfield, we firmly believe in the power of strength training – not only for performance, but for quality of life. For more energy in everyday life, for resilience, for an active and self-determined lifestyle at any age. This conviction drives us forward. We don’t just want to develop a product – we want to spark a movement. One that makes people stronger – in every sense of the word.
With our expertise in strength training and advanced robotics, we at Sparkfield have created a new training category. Our vision was simple: not to impose something on people, but to adapt to them. Perfectly tailored exercises, repetitions, loads, and tempos that fit individual goals, fitness levels, and performance. Users don’t have to plan or adjust anything themselves – the system takes care of everything so they can focus on what really matters: training.

Birth of an Idea
2019
When strength training expertise met robotics: In early 2019, Mattias and Amos (then both at Bosch) joined forces. Together they developed concept ideas to fundamentally transform the strength training experience and filed their first patents. Initial studies were conducted at their former employer Bosch.

Technical Feasibility

Proof of technical feasibility through simulations and the creation of a table-top demonstrator (Sparkfield Core V1). Several concept studies were carried out. Sparkfield was spun off from Bosch through a management buyout, laying the foundation for the company’s establishment.

Sparkfield GmbH was founded by five co-founders. Extensive market studies were conducted, supported by interviews with experts and research with end users. A full-scale demonstrator was built, proving the feasibility of real training operations including touchscreen operation (Sparkfield Core V2). Sparkfield also secured a successful pre-seed funding round as part of the Baden-Württemberg pre-seed program.

Sparkfield Core V3 was developed with a “user-ready” design and extended functionality. Six exercises were enabled, with training options for both seated and standing positions. The demonstrator was showcased at FIBO 2022, where the first partner and pilot customers were acquired. The basic patent was granted in China.

First Fitness Studio Installation

parkfield Core V4 was developed. Successful endurance and load tests ensured compliance with studio standards; regulatory approval and CE certification (e.g. EMC testing) were achieved. Cloud-based user data management was implemented. The first four units were delivered to pilot customers, unlocking 16 exercises, 5 training methods, training analytics, strength measurement, and more. Sparkfield also closed its first qualified financing round and secured patent approval in the USA.
